If you want a strong presence on the internet then you need to start with a website. However, today it can’t just be any website, ideally it should be a WordPress website.
Why? Because it will get you found organically by search engines, it’s easy and simple to use, and it looks good. It can do everything your old (static) website can do…and a whole lot more.
The Vancouver Business, Marketing, & Entrepreneur meetup group is hosting a 4-part series on WordPress in March and April, covering everything you need to know from building your website to how to draw traffic to it to make money.
What is WordPress? Originally created to be an open source blogging tool (i.e. a daily online journal), users quickly found that it can also be used as a Content Management System to make easy webpages… that means you can now make your site with less coding and complication.
Search engines, such as Google, love WordPress because of its clean code and because its created to showcase new and fresh content (hint, hint). Users love WordPress because it’s just so easy to use and can look anyway you like, plus there are a plethora of plugins created that allows you go the extra mile with it.
As an example, this website you’re reading right now is running on WordPress:

Not only are these running on WordPress, they are using a special Theme called Thesis (which we’ll talk about in the 4-part series), which is the best theme for top SEO out of the box and is fully customizable (click on this link for Thesis to see videos on how good it is and how it does that).
Thus, in addition to the many great events already listed the Vancouver Business, Marketing and Entrepreneur group (two in March, one on Real Estate, then it’s our Spring Mini-trade Show Networking Mixer), we are adding a third series of events for our Internet Marketing Mastermind series on WordPress.
