(transcript) Hi, I’m Dr. Sean Richardson and I’m going to be talking to the Vancouver Coaches and Consultants and I look forward to seeing you there.

One of the questions I get asked a lot is “how can you be successful as a coach in your business?” This is something that I was really looking at because I have a lot of experience as a psychologist counseling people and I also was advising leadership on training people be successful in terms of the psychology of excellence, but how do I bring these two together to work one on with someone and make a lot of money?

What I learned in the Thought Leadership model was that was the wrong focus. It’s not about how you can become the best coach you can be, but rather what is your underlying message you have to share. Because, let’s face it, a lot of coaches are earning below the poverty line, great coaches might make fifty to a hundred thousand a year. But it’s a lot easier to focus on what message you have and deliver it through multiple modes. So you don’t want to get stuck thinking about coaching, I want to teach you how to think about coaching, speaking, training, authoring, mentoring and facilitating – multiple modes of delivering your message.

Really, as a thought leader your key is to market position and brand yourself as a message, not as a mode of delivery. So for you coaches out there, let’s start to think differently on how you can leverage what you know.

I look forward to seeing you on April 20th.
