Referrals for Selling Part 2 – Give Your Clients Tools to Refer You

Referral Selling is one of the best ways for you to grow your business.

Previously, we talked about Referral Selling, what referrals are and how they work. Very often people try to get referrals by telling all their friends about their business or service and just wait for new clients to come in. And wait and wait.

However, very rarely does this strategy work like this all on it’s own. There is more involved in a Referrals Strategy, such as:

  • Giving your clients constant reminders – they forget.
  • Giving incentives to your clients – remember that “What’s In It For Me” is the best motivator.
  • Giving your customers the right tools to bring their friends over – this makes it easy for them to do so.

The last part is very important yet so few people do this.

For example, this tools can be tied to an incentive program for the new client. This makes it easier for your existing clients to refer their friends and acquaintances, be it that they get to be part of a loyalty program, they get special tickets to a special talk, they are offered a discount, or it could be as simple as teaching your customers what to say to their friends and how to say it.

As long as it creates a way for your clients to talk about you to their friends beyond just repeating your company name, you are own your way to getting that flood of referrals to you.

Hi Ronald,

Just read your page on referral marketing.
A few minutes earlier, when I wanted to forward one of your pages to a friend, and was looking for an easy option to ‘email this page to a friend’ (with a box for my email address and one for the friend’s email address — like craigslist has, for example), I could not find anything that jumped out at me.
And as I was pressed for time, I just let it go.

Just a suggestion to make it easier for people to forward your page(s) to interested friends.
