Do you know Doug Anderson? THE Doug Anderson, business coach and owner of DA Top Talent? I first met Doug at one of the early Vancouver Consultants meetup group meetings, which he has attended several times and has referred people to the group, and I’ve seen him at various networking events around town.
One thing that struck me about Doug is he really knows his stuff when it comes to the troubles and the plight of the SME entrepreneur…because he’s been there himself. He told me the story of when he first went out on his own as an independent business owner and was almost ready to throw in the towel when he found the early days of networking too impersonal and wasn’t getting any sales. But once he made the resolve to talk to one more person and followup with everyone, things took a dramatic change for the better.
Well, that way many years ago. Today, Doug, an University of Victoria graduate and member of the Vancouver Club, draws upon his 31 years of hands on business experience, 22 of those years in sales management experience, as a professional mentor and business advisor with DA Top Talent.
The TOP 5 biggest problems facing business owners and sales managers (from his website):
- Your sales process could be improved (profit focus and sales pipeline).
- “People effectiveness†(have you the right people in the right roles?).
- Time management and prioritization (improve your ‘juggling’ quality).
- Decision making and goal setting (they need to be written down).
- Putting the right systems in place to improve (by documenting repetitive tasks).
Doug and DA Top Talent helps business owners and CEO’s exceed their own expectations with proper process and internal systems. He is an expert on people, staffing, and hiring and assists companies in creating internal systems to improve effectiveness.
DA Top Talent is ideal for:
- Start-ups and existing businesses that want to grow.
- Small and medium business owners.
- Companies with sales staff.
- And for companies who want to hire ‘Top Talent’. He have a first class recruiter with years of experience.
He has assisted a number of companies as they went public and has worked with entrepreneurs for the last two decades to help them achieve their goals and has recently started Franchise Link, a consulting company for businesses who wish to franchise.
Doug will be speaking to the Vancouver Consultants group on Thursday, January 14th on Record Keeping Secrets to help Business Owners Keep on Track.
When you start your business, everything is simple and easy to keep track of. As time goes by and your business grows, you find that you suddenly have a lot of (too much) various pieces of information piling up here and there. You know you need to keep track of these, but how?
As you stare at your records pile, you tell yourself, you’ll get to it someday, but what’s really happening is you’re creating extra anxiety for yourself as your records start getting messy.
Doug will speak about best practices for keeping your records in order, without letting them pile up, and easily accessible so you can relieve yourself of anxiety around your records and paper work that only builds over time.
He’ll be talking about how to file your records (from receipts, bills, to leads/contacts, everything) both physically and online tools.
He’ll talk about what records you NEED to keep, HOW, and WHY, and what you can safely dispose of.
By the end of this session, you’ll be able to go home and clear the clutter around your office and know what to do to keep your business records on track.
As usual for the Vancouver Consultants meetup, we are limiting the event to 20 people so we can go around the boardroom and really get to know each other. You will be given several minutes to pitch your business, what you are looking for and take a MINI Q&A session.
This is an intimate meetup where business has been passed back and forth and referrals have been made. Please RSVP early for this event.

Ronald Lee
