As a coach, consultant, or service provider, do you realize that you have an intrinsic advantage over most of the ‘established’ businesses out there? You don’t have to carry large amounts of product and you don’t have to retool and upgrade your equipment every few years to put out the latest models of whatever they’re selling.
The corollary to that, however, is in order to remain competitive, you must constantly upgrade your skills which has a tremendous cost in time and energy.
But with a strong practice where you are positioned at the top of your field, you can create strong brand value and charge anything you want for your service.
What you don’t do in volume, you make up with higher margins, and ideally you build brand equity over the long term so that your returns are greater when your company grows.
In the real world, however, most coaches, consultants, and service providers are struggling. Struggling to get clients month after month, and get all their work done. The key thing you need to be thinking about is how to make your business scalable so you can reap those higher margins and build a self-sustaining company.
